When Dimple Met Rishi

Dimple, Rishi, and Ashish walk to dinner at a Portuguese restaurant. While Ashish is absorbed in his phone, Dimple and Rishi discuss what will happen after Insomnia Con ends, when Rishi goes to MIT and Dimple goes to Stanford. At Dimple’s suggestion, they agree to try to make it work long distance, and Rishi picks her up and kisses her in excitement. Rishi reassures her he’ll “gladly put marriage on the backburner for the next century” if it means getting to kiss her regularly (269).

At dinner, Dimple marvels at the turn of events while also struggling internally with having just lied to Rishi about sending the email to Leo. She worries she might not be ready for a serious relationship, especially because she never wanted a relationship in the first place. Rishi says it feels like Dimple’s a million miles away. Ashish, meanwhile, continues to look at his phone.

Celia finally texts Dimple back and meets them at the restaurant looking glamorous and anxious. Celia asks Dimple to go with her to the bathroom, and once there, Celia reveals that she and Ashish hooked up. At the table, Ashish tells Rishi the same piece of information, explaining he met Celia at basketball camp last summer and reconnected with her that afternoon.
