Yuval Noah Harari

Harari is an Israeli historian, public intellectual, and professor at The Hebrew University (Department of History). He received his doctorate from the University of Oxford in 2002. He originally specialized in military history, medieval history, and world history. His current research focuses on macro-historical questions, including: the relationships between history and biology, examining whether there is justice in history, examining the differences between Homo sapiens and other animals, and the ethical questions raised by the merging of science and technology. Harari has given keynote speeches on the future of humanity at the World Economic Forum, regularly discusses global issues with political leaders, and was the first individual to deliver a TED talk as a digital avatar.

He has published several articles and books, including Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, which sold over 15.5 million copies and was translated into over 60 languages, and Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow. Harari has received a number of accolades for his books and research, including the Polonsky Prize for Creativity and Originality, which he was awarded twice, and 21 Lessons for the 21st Century was honored by the German magazine Bild der Wissenschaft as “Knowledge Book of the Year” in 2019.
